Revision Support

Revision is a key part of examination success, and at Tower College we provide a comprehensive support package to empower our students to rise to their potential. Pupils in Years 6 - 10 sit two assessment periods each year in each subject, in January and June, in order to prepare them for Mock and GCSE examinations in Year 11.

Pupils are provided with comprehensive revision lists, and encouraged to use their time well in order to prepare for these assessments. Revision workshops and targeted PSHE sessions will introduce core revision techniques and utilise the latest in retrieval and interleaving studies.

In Year 11 pupils are assigned a mentor that will guide and evaluate their progress.

Active Revision

At Tower College we provide a wealth of revision resources (see below) to enable our pupils to succeed at every stage, but we recognise that simply having access to revision does not equate to exam success!

We promote to our pupils the need to balance revision with rest and recreation, and to plan their revision accordingly. Pupils are taught active revision techniques to engage them in their material and improve the retention of key ideas and vocabulary. By using a blend of Note taking, idea mapping, flash cards, summary posters, past papers and mnemonics pupils our pupils are set up to succeed.

Resources

GCSEPod

As a subscriber, each child in Years 9 - 11 now has access to GCSEPod’s library of over 6,500 ‘Pods’, 3-5 minute videos designed to deliver knowledge in short bursts.

GCSEPod makes learning and revision much more manageable: every Pod is mapped to an exam board, and contains all the right facts, quotes, keywords, dates and annotated diagrams that your child needs for GCSE success – all neatly organised into topics and exam playlists.
