Lower School have had a wonderful first term. Our pupils and staff have worked extremely hard and have thoroughly enjoyed being back in school full time. Last year, our pupils missed out on so much and it has been lovely to see that all our amazing activities could go ahead this term.

In September, after a great deal of preparation staff for the pupils’ return. And what a first few weeks it was! Firstly, Lower School became used to the new routines in school and made friends with the new faces in their classes. During September, our pupils learnt all about First Aid and what to do in an emergency. We learnt about World Peace and discussed what it meant to be peaceful.

In October, our Enrichment programme was well under way and our teachers took the opportunity to pass on their knowledge to our pupils. Mrs Gibson provided a sing and sign programme. Miss Deane provided a cheerleading programme and Mrs Miles provided an Animal Art club. Lower School pupils took the opportunity to discover what it means to be compassionate during our Harvest Festival. In the weeks leading up to the festival, our pupils collected for the Local Foodbank, discussing in lessons, how fortunate they were and how they could help others.

In November, Lower School had the opportunity to learn all about fire safety. Our local Fire and Rescue Service came to school to talk to us about staying safe on bonfire night.

In December, our staff worked tirelessly to provide our pupils with lots of festive activities and without their hard work, these simply would not have been as exciting. Mrs Boyd, Miss Byron, Miss Deane, Mrs Gibson and Mrs Miles, put on a beautiful Nativity for our Middle School pupils and our parents. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Whilst rehearsing in the church, some of the members of the parish commented on the behaviour of our pupils and the quality of their performances, saying that they could watch and listen to our pupils all day, and this is a testament to their hard work and that of all our staff.

It is with great pleasure that I thank all the staff for their hard work this term and our pupils for their effort and conduct in all that they have done.  After a wonderful first term, we are all very excited for the New Year!

Wishing you a safe and lovely Christmas and a happy New Year.

Mrs Wright
