The Principal, Governors and Staff of Tower College work to maintain the original aims of the late Mr Charles and Mrs Muriel Oxley, the school’s founders.
Their vision for the school, which with hard work and dedication they made into a reality, was to provide an education of high academic standards, where children learn the benefits of adherence to excellent behaviour in a caring, Christian environment.
The pupils are nurtured and encouraged to ‘aim high’ by staff who are dedicated to their success, happiness and well-being. The staff lead by example and encourage the pupils to be tolerant and compassionate towards one another and to care for the younger children.
Special emphasis is laid on the spiritual aspect of the Christian education provided. The school is not affiliated to any denomination, and pupils of all faiths or none are accepted on the understanding that they will participate in Morning Assemblies and all Religious Studies lessons which are based on the Christian faith. Pupils are expected to show tolerance and respect for each other’s faiths, and kindness and courtesy in all aspects of school life.
Why choose Tower College?
We believe every child deserves the best
At Tower College, we recognise that every child is an individual who deserves the best educational experience. Everything we do is designed to nurture them academically and personally. Our small class sizes and high staff to pupil ratio means that we are able to offer a genuinely tailored learning experience.
Become their best selves
We are an inclusive school and pride ourselves on our safe, secure and family environment where children of any ability can flourish. We encourage our children to show kindness and have respect for others, and to celebrate in their and others’ achievements. There is no doubt that being at Tower College allows children to thrive, become confident and develop a great sense of belonging to our family. It is of no surprise that so many of our past pupils and our staff send their children to Tower.
Appropriate Support and Parental Involvement
We support every child from the crucial early years through to their GCSE Examinations in Year 11. To ease the transition between the various stages of school life, we involve our parents who have opportunities to meet staff at ‘Meet the Teacher’ events.
As an independent school we are not restricted by the constraints of the National Curriculum and although we follow the framework to ensure high standards of core skills, we are also able to offer a much broader curriculum and inspire the children with a diverse range of enrichment activities.
Proven Track Record of Academic Success
We help every child to find their strengths and talents and help them to excel in whatever they choose. We strive for academic excellence and our proven track record and sporting successes, as well as our approach to developing self-aware and compassionate young people, means that our children leave us with the necessary skills to succeed in the stage of their careers.
Two Short Videos About Us
Vanessa Holt on Tower College
Vanessa Holt (Head Girl 2012 – 2013) talks freely and candidly about life at Tower College. The video was filmed by Lancashire Magazine and although you may not believe it when you hear her, Vanessa was entirely unscripted; a remarkable performance from a fifteen year old’s first time in front of camera.
